The Power Farming Cup

Waikato Junior Rugby!

Get ready for 4 weekends of Junior Rugby in August 2026!

What is the Power Farming Cup?

There’s more to rugby than just winning. It’s about being part of a team, supporting each other and taking pride in the progress of the team that you’re part of. Playing rugby should be character building – in the very best sense.

That’s why we sponsor the Power Farming Cup, a rugby tournament for kids that awards points for not only tries, conversions and kicks but for the sportsmanship of team members on and off the field.

The Power Farming Cup includes additional points during each game, making a great attitude on the field a crucial element of winning. Ultimately, we want to make rugby a game that everyone can be proud to be a part of. Whether you’re running with your teammates or supporting on the sideline.

The Power Farming Cup will kick off on the 3rd of August 2025 and run for four consecutive Sundays. Teams are divided by player size creating three different categories;
Under 45kg division
45-60kg division
Over 60kg division

Games are 15-aside, 40-minute games, on full sized fields, with 10 minutes for half time. Squads are of a maximum of 22 players, male and female combined. It’s going to be great, see you there!

The Power Farming Story
The origins of Power Farming Holdings Limited (PFG) can be traced back to Maber Motors, a small one-man operation established by Laurie Maber in 1948 to sell and service tractors and implements to the local farming community in Morrinsville, New Zealand.
Over the years Maber Motors expanded to three retail branches, thanks largely to Laurie’s unfaltering commitment to service and backup. This was very much a family business, and Laurie’s son Geoff joined Maber Motors soon after leaving school.
In 1977, Maber Motors secured the rights to distribute Iseki tractors in New Zealand, and Geoff eventually formed a separate wholesale company to fully develop this new opportunity. The new company was named Power Farming.
Iseki quickly became New Zealand’s top selling tractor and Power Farming grew at a fantastic pace. In 1981, the company was appointed Iseki distributor for Australia, and over the next two decades gradually built a stable of high quality tractor and machinery franchises from around the world.
In 2005, PFG Australia was formed. This is the first step towards their international ambition or becoming a global company.
20010 was a fantastic year as exclusive distribution rights for Deutz-Fahr is acquired in Power Farming New Zealand and PFG Australia.
In 2017 PFG expanded its international footprint by securing the exclusive distribution rights to Deutz-Fahr tractors in the USA, creating a truly global company.
PFG has now grown to become a major enterprise, with a considerable investment in people, facilities, and technology – all aimed at serving a customer base spread throughout the length and breadth of Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
Power Farming New Zealand secures exclusive distribution rights to JCB Construction in 2023, and eventually Agriculture 2 years later, proving the Mabers ambition by expanding into the Construction sector.
